Welcome to the CKLA 2nd Edition Quick Start

We’ve relocated! Visit start.amplify.com/cklaqs for an updated version of this Quick Start.

We’re excited to share with you a number of resources to help you start teaching. If you experience a delay in receiving your materials, you can use this Amplify CKLA Quick Start Kit, which we designed to help you access all of Amplify’s curriculum resources digitally.

This implementation kit will give you a jump start on the new year. The tools provided here—including navigational videos, lessons resources, and our Professional Learning site—will guide you as you become familiar with the program.

You will receive your login information from your district administrator. If you are logging in to CKLA for the first time, we encourage you to visit our Logging in to Amplify page to help you better understand the process.

You’ll also find training resources each week in the Up Your Amplify Game collection, featured on the main CKLA page, as well as links to past training webinars and registration for upcoming learn events under the Learn & Connect section. We hope you find all of these learning opportunities helpful in the 2021–22 school year!

Preparing to Teach

Preparing to Teach

How to use Amplify CKLA no matter your situation

We’ve developed a variety of resources to ensure you have the tools you need to support students in developing foundational skills and building background knowledge—no matter which materials you have available or where learning is happening. On the following pages, you’ll find information on using Amplify CKLA for digital access—whether you and your students have access to technology and/or personalized accounts or not.

Back-to-school instructional recommendation

As the school year gets underway, your first step may be to assess which of your students are prepared for grade-level instruction and which may require additional support. We have downloadable assessment tools available to you here as well as the intervention resources you need to help students catch up after the challenges of the previous year. You can learn more about how to use these assessment and intervention resources here.

When you’re ready to start teaching:

  • Begin grade-level instruction with Unit 1 in every grade, utilizing recommended instructional minutes.
  • In grades 1–3, CKLA instruction begins with review from the previous year.
  • For grades 1–3, we recommend you schedule an additional 30-minute instructional block for unfinished foundational skills instruction from spring 2021.
  • For grades 4–5, you may choose to start the school year with the optional novel guide materials.

Digital Learning

If you will be teaching without access to CKLA print materials, we recommend teacher-led lessons for daily Skills and Knowledge Strand lessons in K–2 and daily lessons in 3–5.

In the Student Hub, students will have access to K–2 Skills Strand components such as Student Readers and the Sound Library, K–2 Knowledge components like Knowledge Builders, and the 3–5 Vocab App and Grades 3–5 Student Readers.

Teacher Planners

To access your digital year-at-a-glance Teacher Planner, click your grade level below. You will be directed to the Teacher Resources site. Select Planning Documents in the left menu to find the planner and other downloadable planning resources. (Note: You can always toggle between grade levels by clicking the grade icon in the upper left corner of the page.)

Supporting Your Students

We’ve prepared this website resource to help you support your students and their caregivers. The site is tailored to provide caregivers with curriculum details, an overview of what to expect, and resources to use with students at home.

Using the Help Library

We have a robust library of help articles. Anytime you’re looking for answers, visit the library and use the Search tool at the top of the page to find all the articles on keywords such as CKLA, planner, or sound library.

There’s even a collection of articles devoted to all things Amplify CKLA—including more videos.

Technical Requirements

Whether you are logged in with your own or shared credentials, there are two important steps to ensure you and your students can access the Amplify CKLA digital resources.

  1. You and your students may be prompted to “accept cookies” when first accessing the program. Your computer or tablet must be set to “accept cookies” from Amplify program sites. If prompted, select to allow cookies for the Amplify site.
  2. If you see only a blank page—nothing appears to load—when trying to access an Amplify program page (such as ckla.amplify.com), please check with your IT group to confirm that the URLs on this page have been allowed for your district network. A blank screen is often a sign that the website is being blocked by a school’s content filter.
