Amplify ELA
Amplify ELA is a blended English language arts curriculum designed specifically for grades 6–8. With Amplify ELA, students dive into a range of rich and diverse texts, supported by strategic routines and a variety of interactions that develop the critical capacities and build the vocabulary, knowledge, and skills students need to read deeply. Students are engaged through dynamic texts, lively classroom discussions, and meaningful digital experiences.
This site is designed to help you become familiar with the program and to guide you through initial preparation for implementing Amplify ELA in your classroom.

Teaching with Amplify ELA
We’ve developed a variety of resources to ensure you have the tools you need to support students in your classroom.
In this section, you’ll find all of the information you need to plan and teach with Amplify ELA.
When you log in to Amplify ELA, Educator Home will be your landing place. Here, teachers will see all their Amplify programs. You’ll also see recommendations on how to plan, prep, and conduct instruction, class activity, scheduled assignments, and more.
Student Home is the landing page for all Amplify ELA students. Here, they’ll see recently assigned lessons and activities, and scheduled assignments at the date/time chosen by the teacher.
Located in the Materials section of your Year Overview page, grade overviews will guide you as you begin to understand how units are organized and start mapping out your year of ELA.
At the beginning of the school year, the Get Started Sub-unit is meant to help you establish routines, get to know your students, and gather some insight into how students are doing with writing. Be sure to begin there!
When you click into a unit, the Unit Overview features planning details for the unit, including teacher references and printable resources.
Refer to the PD Library for a number of resources to aid in your unit- and lesson-level planning, such as implementation guides, lesson internalization guides, and more.
- Classwork enables teachers to review digital submissions and provide scores and feedback in one place for middle school students.
- Reporting provides teachers with detailed insights into student progress in reading and writing, tracking key skills and performance on assessments and homework, and includes an ELA Reporting overview with the Embedded Assessment Measure for comprehensive analysis.
- The Vocab App offers interactive activities to enhance vocabulary skills, accessible through the Programs & Apps menu for instructors and within most lessons for students.
- The Amplify Library contains over 700 books, supported by Novel Guides for middle-grade novels, accessible via the Program & Apps menu.
- Access model lesson videos and a lesson planning template for guidance on lesson structure and planning in Amplify ELA.

Pacing and planning
The Amplify ELA grade overviews resource offers high-level information about each unit and sheds light on the progression of content and skills, as well as the progression of text complexity as students move from unit to unit.
Utilize backwards planning to plan your Amplify ELA unit strategically, focusing on meeting learning objectives efficiently, with guidance available via a helpful video.
The Assign feature simplifies distributing assignments by allowing simultaneous activity assignments, class section selection, and setting due dates, with student notifications provided through the bell feature.
Differentiation
Embedded differentiation in Amplify ELA lessons offers support and extension activities to meet diverse student needs, including ML/ELs, with easy drag-and-drop student assignments.
Amplify Flex Days, every four to six lessons, allow for targeted grammar instruction and skills practice, using EAM results to recommend student groupings for tailored reading, writing, and language support.
The Spotlight app provides a virtual platform to share and showcase student writing for educational and appreciation purposes.
Assessments
Amplify’s Embedded Assessment Measure tracks student performance in reading, writing, and language through daily lessons, providing insights for differentiated instruction without interrupting class flow.
Interim Assessments offer baseline data on reading and writing standards, with two assessments per subject per grade level, scheduled strategically throughout the year for optimal measurement.
The Answer Validation feature in Classwork lets students see auto-scored answers for Solos and assessments, with settings for editing and answer visibility depending on the locked status.
